One day event-- report

I enjoyed the Oct 24th one day event at the Lachapelle funeral parlor in Pawtucket, R.I.
There were some very nice works of art & the conversations on healing through art were
enlightening. I was able to meet a lot of new people & personally met someone I met
on-line. Very enjoyable evening for me.

Dual post

I just finished preparing and delivering 3 painting for a one day event in Pawtucket, R.I. for Sat. Oct. 24th.
This is "The faces of adversity" show at Lachapelle funeral parlor--5pm-10pm-- There is a $10.00 admission
with all the proceeds going to - Knowledge is power and The Institute for the study & practice of
Non-violence.
On Thurs. I attended the opening reception for the "Cancer survivors & their families" show at the U.R.I.
gallery in downtown Providence, R.I. of which I have a painting & 2 short poems. As I had expected I was
impressed & inspired by the artworks and the cancer survivors behind them. Such courage & resolve leaves
me with no recourse but to leave excuses out when trying to reach my goals. This show is still on until Oct. 31st.

In the mirror,
I see,
all the faults and power,
of me.
Humble and hard,
stumble and stand,
the depth of life seen over me,
in the mirror,
I see....

Group show

I will have one of my paintings accompanied by two short poems in
the cancer survivors exibit at the U.R.I. gallery in downtown Providence, R.I. . This
group showing has works by about 30 artist relating to the theme. The show runs from
Oct. 4th through the 30th. Opening reception is on "Gallery night" Oct. 15th-- 5pm--9pm.
This ended up being a quik think and do challenge as I submitted work
months ago & received a phone call last Tues. informing me of where & when to deliver
my works. Oops somebody forgot to e-mail me! No big deal tomorrow I will drop off my
entry and it will be in the show. I am extending an open invitation to attend, and please
remember the October is breast cancer awareness month. Thank you.

Views up close--local art

I visited with two local artists this weekend. It's so enjoyable to see
the works up close & talk with the artists in person. I first went on
Sunday 9/13/09 to see the works of  Lydia Stein @ AS220's 94
Mathewson st. gallery in downtown Providence.  I liked the unique
style & ideas of her works. It was a very informative & enjoyable
visit for me.
I next went to view the works of Julie Beck on Monday 9/14/09,
@ Tazza, also in downtown Providence. I first started following
Julie's blog here on blogspot. I was caught by the items she painted,
as they were familiar to me from younger days. It was again a very
informative & enjoyable visit.
Thanks to both Lydia & Julie! I need to close with the fact that I am
not a critic, but a fellow artist & lover of art. With this being said, I
think one should see for themselves.
                            Take care, all,
                                       Tom
