The grand opening at Rhodes gallery and studio was a success! There were plenty of people
that came to view the works of art, listen to music & enjoy the company of others. I for one
had a good time mostly striking up conversations & looking at some of the new works since
I last was there! Much thanks to Bonnie & Greg for putting this evening together. I truly
believe it was an enjoyable night for everyone. http://rhodesgalleryandstudio.wordpress.com/
Sat. morning I helped with the plantings at Davey Lopes' community garden. It was part of a
series of workshops on urban gardening, etc. put on by Plant Providence http://www.plantprovidence.org
the people at Southside community land trust http://www.southsideclt.org
I had some fun, met some good people, and , well worked! I'm tired!
Take care.

My return.
I returned to the area of my son's accident today. India point park in Providence,R.I.
It took me 6 years to go back. I don't know why. I don't know why I chose today.
Everything looked so much different with the ramps off of the highway now complete.
I was not sure of the exact spot, and maybe it is best this way. As I began to feel a
sadness come over me, I noticed a man playing a guitar & faintly singing. I moved
myself closer to him, and he was singing a line about missing someone. He continued
to finish his song as I stood and listened. When he finished he simply looked up at me
and said, hi how are you. I replied, to be honest, I'm a little sad & confused & explained
why I had come to the park. He gave the usual condolences & remarked how my son
certainly had a big monument.(meaning the new highway exits & park area, I think). I
found this to be both comforting & a bit spiritual, as I have been telling mostly family
and friends that he was going to have a big monument. How prophetic that a stranger
would say the same thing! I talked a little more with him & found him to be an architect
with an office but no work. I told him of my unemployment & my artwork, gave him my
business card, shook his hand and thanked him for the conversation. As I walked back
to my car he began to play & sing. My son loved music as I do. Who's voice was I hearing?
Take care, all.

The madness of March!
Art & basketball have been keeping me quite busy so far this month! This is a good thing!
As far as the basketball all but one of our rec. teams advanced in the playoffs! I have also
been watching the NCAA, & NIT games. That's enough about that.
Getting some artwork done as I have two places to show my work coming up! The first is
a new gallery in Cumberland, R.I., the Rhodes gallery! (1407 Mendon road--02864).
There will be a hanging of artworks at the coffee connection on March 24th at 10:00 am
previous to the Grand opening of the gallery it's self on April 30th(more on this in a later post).
There will also be a gathering of artists & business owners along with a B&W photo showing
on March 28th from 7-9pm.
The other gallery is also a new one in the Olnyville area of Providence, which I am helping to
put together(more on this later). Please mark the above dates on your calender & should you
be in the area, stop by! Take care.

Marketplace - follow-up.
The marketplace on sat. Feb. 13th was my first experience in this
aspect, as it was for the organizer. Overall it was an enlightening &
enjoyable day. I once again met more creative minds and talk of
what our areas of expertise entail & how we may help one another.
I'm looking forward to my next marketplace event.
Take care.

Busy bee!
January has been a busy month for me! I have spent a lot of time trying to secure a job, in a
new field from the last one. I have also been coaching basketball in the rec. dept. once again,
as well as attending local games.
As far as art, I have been visiting local galleries, for the simple enjoyment & insight. I have been
working with local artists on many different things. A lot which involves shows & charities(talking
stages, bouncing ideas). I have also continued to make contacts with people that may be able to
help me combine the arts & basketball(sports) with inner city youth in mind. I have also of course
been working on new art. I should be having a show in the near future, although I have not gotten
a set date yet, I was recently told by a gallery director that he is working on getting me in. You can
go to facebook or http://www.myartspace.com/T.L.Anderson/ to see a couple of works in progress.
Peace & take care,
Tom
